Advisory Committee

Advisory Committee

Top-ranking researchers, physicians and stakeholder representatives belong to the Medical/Scientific Advisory Committee (M/SAC). The Committee makes recommendations on how Foundation funds should be directed. Members volunteer hundreds of hours each year to ensure fund allocation is balanced, cost-efficient and highly effective.

M/SAC Member List

Knowledgeable members of the CCFF community can serve as Advisory Committee stakeholders. These volunteers play a vital role in M/SAC policy decisions and recommendations. They take part in the review process which allocates funds to outstanding cystic fibrosis research projects, lung transplantation and clinical care. Learn more

Research

Research

Research gives people with CF and their families real hope.

Progress in CF research is making a positive difference; Canadians with CF are living longer and healthier lives. In the 1960s, when the Foundation started serving the CF community, most children with cystic fibrosis did not live long enough to attend kindergarten.

Today, 50% of Canadians with CF are expected to live into their late 30s and beyond. This is a tremendous accomplishment, but it’s not nearly enough.

Our mission is to help people with cystic fibrosis, principally by funding research. In fact, the Foundation is one of the world’s largest non-governmental granting agencies in the field of cystic fibrosis research. In 2009-2010, we are investing nearly $6 million in programs that are investigating many aspects of the CF puzzle. With more funds, we could do even more!

With your support and the dedication of our researchers, we will find a cure or control for this devastating disease!
